This alkaline water guy showed up at my Army Reserve unit and spouted his bullshit to a captive audience for half an hour. Captive audience is no exaggeration. This was a mandatory &#8220;briefing&#8221; and we had no choice but to sit there and listen to it. A little background: This video was shot at my US Army Reserve unit&#8217;s annual Christmas party. Normally, the morning is spent getting mandatory briefings on security policies, safety, suicide prevention, and financial responsibility. The afternoon is reserved for a holiday party for soldiers and their families. This year, our training schedule said there would be a briefing from WaterForLife, which is a charity that supplies clean drinking water to third world nations. Our unit, until a few years ago, handled water purification. What we got was a sales pitch from a guy from Kangen Water, which sells its alkaline water machines through waterforlifestore.com. After the presentation, I grilled the guy about the supposed health benefits of the water, and the possible negative side effects of drinking the stuff. I really wish I had recorded that part, because I made the guy look like a total ass. I would have continued to embarrass the guy, but one of our senior NCO&#8217;s jumped in and asked if I had ever tried the water. I told him that I had not, but that I also didn&#8217;t have to visit the moon to know it&#8217;s not made out of cheese. Science had already solved that one.
